Planning a Disney Vacation 2023?

Are you planning a Disney World vacation in 2023? Here are some tips to help you organize your planning if you like to plan everything on your own, and are not using a travel agent. Some people prefer to book each part of their trip on their own, and have complete control over their reservations. If this is you, then set aside a couple hours to make sure you have time to complete all of the steps.

First, you need to make sure the hotel has availability for the dates you want to travel. Compare the hotel availability with the airline prices to get the best fares. Sometimes I adjust my arrival day after looking at airline fares. Once you know your dates are available for both the airline and hotel, then you need to make sure the park has availability on your dates as well.

Due to capacity limitations Disney has implemented a park pass system that requires you to reserve your park visits first. You need a valid ticket to reserve the park date, but you can check availability first before you spend any money. Check availability here. Tip: Refer to crowd calendars to go to the parks if you want to avoid heavy crowds. See example below:

Then, you can book your airfare, hotel, tickets, and reserve your park dates. You can’t enter any park without a park pass reservation. Don’t mistake the two. You must still purchase tickets to enter the park, but to ensure the park stays below COVID capacity you must ‘reserve’ your park visit for each day of your vacation.

Disney Planning Checklist for 2023

  • Check availability in each park using the park pass reservation system, hotel is available, and compare airfare dates/fares BEFORE booking anything. Once all is available then book each part right then and there. Don’t wait! Don’t book tickets, and then wait a few days to reserve the passes.
  • Link everything (park tickets, Disney hotel reservations, etc.) to your ‘MyDisneyExperience’ app. This app is really important to help you with many things while in Disney World.
  • Book your transportation if traveling by air.
  • Book dining reservations 60 days in advance. It used to be 180 days.
  • Navigate and become familiar with the ‘MyDisneyExperience’ app before leaving home. Disneyworld.disney.go.com
